John Rodger is a native of Miami Beach, Florida. He has performed numerous operatic roles including the Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto), Rodolfo (La Bohème), Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Ruggiero (La Rondine), Leandro (Arlecchino), Tybalt (Roméo et Juliette), Ferrando (Così fan tutte), Beppe (Rita), “The Magician” Nika Magadoff (The Consul), Eduardo (La cambiale di matrimonio), Sellem (The Rake’s Progress) and Marco (The Gondoliers).  He has performed the tenor solo in oratorio and choral works of Beethoven (Symphony No. 9), Mozart (Requiem, Mass in C minor, and Vesperae Solennes de Confessore), Haydn (St. Nicholas Mass, Mass in Time of War), Handel (Messiah) and Brahms (Zigeunerlieder). He has also presented solo recitals of art song literature at various venues and has performed professionally in Florida, the Midwest and the New York area.

This summer Mr. Rodger sang the role of Pong and covered Prince Calàf in Opera North’s production of Turandot conducted by Louis Burkot, in which he "...added immeasurably to both the merriment and solid vocal artistry that made this show such an unqualified success."  Recently he portrayed the Duke of Mantua in Indiana University Opera Theater’s production of Rigoletto under the baton of Stephen Lord and reprised the role of the Duke with Opera Western Reserve in Youngstown, Ohio, where one reviewer said "...the silvery timbre of Mr. Rodger's tenor enhanced the famed quartet in the last act. Previously he'd nearly brought down the house with his rendition of La donna è mobile."  In 2008, Mr. Rodger will sing the Tenor Solo in Verdi's Requiem with the Indiana University Philharmonic in Indianapolis, he will sing his first Alfredo in La Traviata with Miami Lyric Opera, he will sing a program of Verdi arias and duets with The Alhambra Orchestra, he will perform as part of the Indianapolis Opera Ensemble touring program, he will participate in the Young American Artists program at Glimmerglass Opera where he will cover the role of Claudio in Wagner's early opera Das Liebesverbot, and he will sing the role of Manrico in Il Trovatore with Taconic Opera.  In 2009 Mr. Rodger will be a member of the Studio Artists program at Sarasota Opera where he will cover the roles of Cavaradossi (Tosca) and Don Carlos (Don Carlos).

Mr. Rodger is currently completing graduate studies in the studio of Timothy Noble at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington where he is also an Associate Instructor. He initially studied voice with Dr. Beverly Coulter in Miami and later trained with Richard Miller at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music where he was a recipient of the Oberlin Conservatory Dean's Talent Award, was a Certified Student Teacher of Voice and was also a member of the student staff of the Otto B. Schoepfle Vocal Arts Center(OBSVAC).  Mr. Rodger later studied voice with Metropolitan Opera baritone Mark Oswald in New York City where he lived for three years.
